Leadership

Chris Reid

CEO

Chris is a technology and business leader with 30 years’ experience developing energy and hardware ventures. His focus at Ekona is on strategic innovation, technology development, business models, and venture development. He has a B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba and a M.A.Sc from the University of Victoria. In his spare time, you can find Chris in the great outdoors, skiing, golfing, or biking, depending on the season!

Jackie Hesketh

CFO

Jackie is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years’ experience in corporate finance, business valuations, strategic analysis, and leadership. A seasoned professional with proven track record with high growth public corporations and start-ups, Jackie has a B.A. in International Relations from the University of British Columbia and is registered as a Chartered Accountant with the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Her focus at Ekona is on finance, accounting and treasury, strategic planning and analysis, and HR. Her interests are tennis, skiing, and goldendoodles.

Dejan Sparica

COO

Dejan is a Professional Engineer and business leader with more than 30 years’ experience developing and deploying clean and renewable energy technologies in Canada, the US, and the UK. Dejan’s focus is on managing day-to-day operations at Ekona, working with the team to continue building Ekona into a leading cleantech organization. He has a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Belgrade. When he’s not working, Dejan enjoys paddleboarding, pickleball, walks with his ‘grand-dog,’ Bailey, and a round of Catan.

Gary Schubak

CCO

Gary is a Professional Engineer with 30 years’ experience developing and commercializing clean energy, hydrogen, and fuel cell technology, in market development, customer engagement, and sales roles. In his role as Chief Commercial Officer, Gary’s focus is on program management, sales and marketing, and government relations. He has a M.A.Sc. from the University of Victoria and a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from University of British Columbia. When he’s not working, you’ll find Gary golfing or pursing musical interests, including playing the drums and the piano.
